About Alstonville

Alstonville's historic buildings have all the charm of yesteryear yet hold all the modern facilities and services that make this town a popular home for many.

hinterlandOriginally known as Duck Creek Mountain, the village of Alstonville is central to many farms, orchards and nurseries and is famous for its Tibouchina Trees which line the streets and add a vibrant green and mauve colour thoughout the village when flowering.

Alstonville is also known for its rich red volcanic soil producing Avocados, Macadamia Nuts, Tropical Fruits and Coffee.

The village has a number of art and antique galleries and lovely cafes where you can relax and enjoy a coffee.

Located half way between Lismore and Ballina, Alstonville was established by the cedar cutters over a hundred years ago and you can still see a remnant of the 'Big Scrub' at Victoria Park where you follow a boardwalk through this sub tropical rainforest.

Alstonville has a number of festivals and major events throughout the year including a rodeo and numerous trade fairs and expos at the large community centre.

horseriding in the hinterland

A short distance away amidst the rich red soil farming region is Wollongbar with a thriving agricultural industry including avocado, bananas, paw paws, macadamia nuts as well as beef, dairy and sheep farming.

Teven and Tintenbar are two settlements set amongst the fertile rolling hills north of Ballina.

Often named together due to their close proximity and after the local Teven-Tintenbar school.

Tintenbar is located 1km west of the Pacific Highway north of Ballina where you will find the friendly store, the cricket ground and The Church Restaurant at the bottom of Tintenbar Hill. A small community of beautiful homes and the school are located high on the top of the hill with Teven nestled in the next valley.

Tintenbar is a growing community of small properties and orchards with many nurseries, macadamia, avocado and coffee plantations and lovely homes with panoramic views across the fertile hills.

Teven located at the bottom of the hill beyond Tintenbar is home to the picturesque 9 hole Teven Golf Course. Stop and enjoy a round of golf or picnic by the sparkling creek where if you are lucky you will spot a platypus as you lay in the shade of the rainforest remnants and enjoy the birdlife.
