About Tweed Heads and Coolangatta

Tweed Heads is located on the mouth of the Tweed River and surrounded by the caldera of an ancient shield volcano, Mt Warning to the west and offers a wealth of holiday experiences.

Whether you’re looking for a romantic rainforest escape in the heart of the Tweed Valley, a relaxing seaside holiday, or a full-on itinerary of tours and entertainment, all can be found around Tweed Heads.

Whilst there you should definitely walk out to Point Danger where you will be greeted by a large memorial for Captain Cook. The memorial marks the New South Wales and Queensland border divide, and you can actually stand in both states at the same time.

From Point Danger you can also get fantastic views. Looking north you can see the Gold Coast in Queensland and looking south you can see along the Summerland NSW coastline.

Tweed Heads is a business centre containing all of the main shops and offices but is also the gateway to the Tweed Valley which has a world heritage listing of national parks nearby including Mount Warning an extinct volcano, Night Cap, Borders Ranges, Springbrook and Lamington National Parks.

Scenic drives into the hinterland greet the visitor with charming villages selling local produce, handcrafts and art. The green and lush vegetation of this region provides pleasant scenic walks through rainforests with waterfalls and natural flora and fauna or coastal hikes along beach tracks.

Whereas the Tweed Coast stretching from Kingscliff to Cabarita is rapidly developing with modern coastal communities there are also the older established places that cater to the beach or valley orientated holiday maker.
